U.S. Micro-Solutions, Inc. History
U.S. Micro-Solutions, Inc. (USMS) is a professional environmental microbiology testing laboratory. Founded in 1995 and incorporated in 1996 by Herbert Layman, BS, SM, CIEC, the laboratory was housed in Jeannette, PA. As demand for services increased, the laboratory moved to its current location at 475-C Willow Crossing Rd, Greensburg, PA to provide addition for expansion. In 2001, a new section was constructed to the facility, thus tripling the laboratory testing area and adding an expanded administrative section.
Additional space was added in 2003 which included conference and classroom sections for meetings and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) seminars. USMS offers a 2-day Advanced Indoor Environmental Mould course. This course is approved for 13 CRCs by the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) and for CRCs by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC).
About the Owner
Herb
Layman, BS, SM, CIEC, has held supervisory positions in microbiology in
both hospital and private medical laboratories for over 25 years. He
has extensive experience in environmental testing since the 1970's in
hospital and other health care facilities. This is especially noted
with over 28 years of experience in sampling, culturing, and the
identification of Legionella bacteria in hospital patients as
well as in environmental sites within health-care facilities. This
unique experience in both clinical and environmental microbiology has
been valuable in assessing the significance of microbial contamination
of the indoor environment.
