Contamination of indoor air and horizontal surfaces is common in built environments.  Exposure to airborne mold, bacteria, fragments of bacteria and mold containing antigens, endotoxins, glucans, and/or mycotoxins, VOCs and immunologically active particles produced by insects, arachnids and pets may pose a significant health risk to humans.

Occupants exposed to poor indoor air quality may experience a variety of symptoms ranging from sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes to dermatitis, fever and fatigue.  Indoor air quality can be assessed using a variety of sampling methods.  Samples that accurately and completely represent the entire population and/or represent the conditions most likely to be associated with adverse effects should be taken to assess indoor air quality.
